CLARE BURSON

Malcolm Sosa, the singer songwriter behind the West Coast band Rademacher, currently resides in Fresno, California and has spent the last three years writing sinster and orchestral pop songs. Prior to moving to sleepy farm town, Sosa lived in NYC where he honed his craft at clubs like the Knitting Factory and The Bowery Poetry Club while performing with his NYC based group, Los Vinos.

Sosa and Rademacher are currently working on an album with Aaron Espinoza of Earlimart, which is slated for release this spring. A combination of angular pop, brooding lyrics and acoustic warmth, Sosa's songs revel in sounds that are equal parts Pavement, Tom Waits and Tom Petty.

Armed with a voice that The Nashville Rage has described as “awakening on a sunny morning, a breeze whispering through soft curtains . . . rumpled, a little seductive, and highly musical,” Tennessee native, Clare Burson has released several recordings that have sold thousands of copies and have made 'best of' lists in record stores and on radio stations in the U.S. and the U.K. Her debut “The In-Between” was reviewed as one of the top DIY recordings of 2004 by Performing Songwriter Magazine. Tracks from The In-Between were included on 2 widely distributed compilation albums and have been featured on the new ABC drama, Six Degrees, and the WB’s Dawson’s Creek.

Clare’s first experiences with music were as a classical violinist and later as a bluegrass, Irish, and Klezmer fiddler. It wasn't until she left Tennessee to study history at Brown University that Clare began to teach herself the guitar and turn her focus towards writing and performing her own music. After college, open mike nights in Boston quickly translated into headlining slots and loyal followings both in the Boston area and in New York City. Simultaneously, series of very fortunate events led to the opportunity to record a 5 song EP, Undone, with L.A.-based producer T-Bone Burnett and Nashville-based singer-songwriter, Mark Collie. Clare was a finalist in the 2004 USA Songwriting Contest and the 2005 International Songwriting Competition.

Her highly anticipated sophomore release, Thieves, is due out in the spring of 2007.

“If Lucinda Williams grew up on Yo La Tengo ballads instead of Hank Williams blues, she'd sound something like Clare Burson.” – Roy Kasten (Riverfront Times)
