CROSS-POLLINATION CLXXVIII - TUES FEB 12TH - 7:30-10 PM
JOHANNA AND THE DUSTY FLOOR
KAISERCARTEL

Described by many as "the music from a music box", Johanna and the Dusty Floor conjure up a refreshingly new sense of folk rock. "I like to write as if I were still an eight year old girl, fascinated with fairies and lace and pretty things," says Johanna, accurately capturing the playful and ethereal tone of her songs and arrangements.

Winter 2007 introdcued Johanna and the Dusty Floor's debut album, descending like the first shimmering flakes of snowfall - personal, unique and beautiful.

The dynamic duo known as KaiserCartel formed in the summer of 2004 when Brooklyn-based musicians Courtney Kaiser and Benjamin Cartel, joined forces to tour the country. Since then, they have been touring nationally to a growing audience and opening for national acts in NYC such as Joe Pernice, Martha Wainwright and Morris Tepper of Captain Beefheart.

"Eclectic, infectious music" are the words Benjamin uses to describe their low-tech, song driven style. "We want people to feel like a fly on the wall in our living room" says Courtney. KaiserCartel's earthy blend of folk-rock and pop will make you laugh, cry, sing along, and want to hold hands with the stranger next to you. Warm up by the fire with KaiserCartel.
