CROSS-POLLINATION CCXXV - TUES FEB 10TH - 7:30-10 PM
BECCA STEVENS
MATTHEW DORRIEN

In her own words: I was born into a musical family in North Carolina. From the age of two I sang in the family band, The Tune Mammals, doing songs written by my father. I was constantly surrounded by classical music, appalachian music, and Irish tunes, which led me to guitar and dance from an early age, along with theater and painting. During high school, I studied classical guitar at the North Carolina School of the Arts, then took a year off before college to teach music class at a day care and sing in a fusion band -- Gomachi -- with my brother. I graduated from the New School in NYC as a vocal jazz performance major in the spring of '07. Now I live in NYC where I write and perform music with my band, the Becca Stevens Band, and sing with other groups in the area. I also teach Suzuki guitar and "Music Readiness" at the Greenwich Suzuki school in Connecticut.

Winner of the 2008 Williamsburg Live Songwriter Contest.
