CROSS-POLLINATION CCXXXVI - TUES MAY 5TH - 7:30-10 PM
CARLA RHODES
RICHARD MCGRAW

Carla Rhodes (born 16 April 1982, died ???) is a rock 'n' roll ventriloquist & comedienne. Her partners in crime are effigies of rock'n'roll legends Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. She also works with a cantankerous 1920's gentleman named Cecil Sinclaire.

She currently appears at alternative performance establishments and rock clubs all over New York City and Brooklyn (such as Joe's Pub, Le Poisson Rouge, Highline Ballroom, Issue Project Room). Print credits include New York Magazine, Paper Magazine, Penthouse Forum, the New York Post, Time Out New York and the Village Voice. Tee Vee credits include appearances on FUSE, The Learning Channel and a shout-out on the Late Show With David Letterman.

Described in The Pulse as a "corkscrew-haired waif with painted red lips and spitfire moxie," and recently dubbed by New York Magazine as one of the "Ten New Comedians That Funny People Find Funny," Carla Rhodes is certainly bringing ventriloquism screaming into the 21st century.

"I haven't liked a record this much in ages."
-Lian Lunson (director of Leonard Cohen, I'm Your Man)

"The record is a true masterpiece."
-Performing Songwriter Magazine

"This is t h e singer-songwriter album of the second half of 2007!"
-Skug Magazine

"Nick Cave. Bob Dylan. Leonard Cohen. Tom Waits.... a man who is following in the footsteps of the greats in a massively competent way... He sings of misery, memorial, mortality, and loss. He evokes religious imagery, erecting church houses to pray in and supreme beings to beseech."
