CROSS-POLLINATION CCXLI - TUES JUN 9TH - 7:30-10 PM
KATIE MULLINS
LINFINITY

Katie Mullins has been singing her way through life. Originally from New Jersey, Katie moved to Berlin in 1999 in search of the unknown. She stayed for six years, allowing her professional musical pendulum to swing from one extreme to the other. She sang opera at the "Komische Oper" opera house and moonlit at clubs with her country band, "Rose's Shoulder." She was hired by European and American performance artists for her versatility and has performed in Madrid, Geneva, Dusseldorf, New York and Berlin.

All the while, Katie has been quietly and continuously writing songs, weaving her folk, experimental and classical influences into beautifully crafted, strikingly original pop songs. The album, "Pastoral," is a compilation of songs written in both Berlin and New York, and will be released this summer.

New York based *Linfinity* is the brain child of Dylan Von Wagner. A concept that began coming to fruition when in 2007 he started recording songs with a few friends at The Walkmen's Marcata studio in Harlem. It wasn't too long before St. Ives (a vinyl only label run by the Swanson brothers from Secretly Canadian) took notice and released an album of demos titled Live at Marcata - a solo acoustic endeavor full of his recently composed melodies.

Soon thereafter Von Wagner began assembling a permanent cast of characters to collaborate and experiment with. With bassist Nick Hundley, guitarist Josh Collins, drummer Russ Lemkin, Megan Berson on violin/viola, and Omer Shemesh on the keys, they began to carve out their sound: a strange and compelling mix of epic old world ballads, soaring strings, electric guitar, piano, and the occasional bit of country twang. They cut their first EP in the summer of 2008 entitled Songs of The Weeping Willow. Not long after */Pitchfork/* and others found themselves assessing the release and Von Wagner's arresting vocals, which have been compared to the likes of John Cale and David Byrne. They noted that the EP was a "compelling showcase for Von Wagner's distinctive approach."

Over the past year Linfinity has brought their energetic live show to venues across New York City, performing with a zeal that captured the attention of audiences who might have otherwise continued to gab over their drinks. In 2009 with a strong fan base established and a bevy of new material to work with, Linfinity set up shop at Excello Recordings in Brooklyn to record their LP with producer Josh Hager.

At their Pianos residency Linfinity showcase songs from their forthcoming release. Of which a couple of tracks "Holy Rain" and "Molly Mar of Rome" may be heard on MySpace. We're excited for you to listen and would be thrilled for you to be our guest at a show.
