Nashville songstress, Tristen expertly combines elements of Wanda Jackson country music, with straight-ahead Beatles-esque pop melodies. Ego Puppets would be a brain child if its father had had any brain children. If the father had, the father's name would have been Eric Feigenbaum, who would have given brain birth to Ego Puppets by himself, in a dark studio in brooklyn, playing with his toys--a sort of brain immaculate conception, if you will. Hopefully, you won't.

As a wayward record producer and touring sound engineer, it was probably inevitable that Eric would eventually get to toying around with some ideas of his own. When he did, he did it solo and strange, mixing out-there samplers and synthesizers, making electronic percussion instruments out of samples of street corners and construction crews, squashing and destroying entire other songs to create oscillator patterns for synthesizer patches, creating strange new vocal treatments to help him frame some very strange stories, and some even stranger ideas about the world, art, culture, relationships, maturity, apathy, fate, and the whole damned human condition.

The end result, both in recorded and live form, is as sprawling as it is tight, as lyrical as it is removed, funky and psychedelic and screaming and dark and fun, a constant tightrope walk above warring styles and conflicting ideas, a language created for only one message: We are all ego puppets.
