CROSS-POLLINATION XCVI - TUES MAY 16TH - 7:30-10 PM
JESS KLEIN
PAUL BRILL

Six months in Kingston, Jamaica inspired Jess Klein’s first songs, a quiet nineteen year-old’s reflections on life in a new place, homesickness and young love, plucked out on a borrowed acoustic guitar. On a whim she auditioned at a local club, after which the manager announced, in a Patois inflection, ‘She have soul, mon’. Jess returned stateside, where she was signed to Rykodisc. Her 2000 release, Draw Them Near [“***1/2” --USA Today], launched an international tour. 2005’s follow up, Strawberry Lover received four stars from Mojo. Jess is currently in NYC completing a new album.
